ABSOLUTELY NOT! All of our performances are free of charge.
We have danced in front of audiences as small as 10 and as large as 10,000 for no cost to the requestor. However,
we do accept charitable donations or honariums to help us with our traveling expenses.
The answer is no. You can sign up for
lessons without having a partner, but you must have a partner by the time
lessons start. If you do sign up without a definite partner and you can't find
one, we cannot refund your money.
Check out our Dance Partner Database for help finding a partner.
No, you do not need to be a Texas A&M student to take our classes. Our classes are offered to
everyone whether you are a student or a non-student. If you are not a student be sure that you let us know because
we have to add your name to an entry list for lessons that are in the GRW or READ buildings.
We teach a variety of classes for people of all different skill levels.
Country and Western 1 teaches the basic two
step, polka, and waltz.(turns, continuous turns, etc.) Classes run 4 weeks and
cost $40.00.
Country and Western 2 is for those people who feel really comfortable with the
polka and 2 step. This class teaches you how to step to
both the 2 step and Polka. Basic swing moves such as the Donna, pretzel, and
the box are taught to step. Classes run 4 weeks and cost $45.00.
Jitterbug is by far our most popular class. This class teaches you basic
jitterbug floor moves as well as a few stunts. The following moves as well as
others will be taught: donna, pretzel, cable cars, jesse flip, aerial,
humiliation, can opener, and many more. Classes run 4 weeks and cost $40.00
Advanced Jitterbug is for those people who want to learn bigger stunts. There
are floor moves taught, but most of the moves are stunts. Take this class if
you want to learn how to do: around-the-world, reesha, cliff hanger, can opener
flip, barrel toss, and many more moves. Classes run 4 weeks and cost $45.00
Signups start at 9:00 am. We can not tell
you the best time to show up. If there is more than 1 section for a certain
class and you are indifferent about what day you take it, then showing up at
9:00 is fine. If you want to ensure you get a spot in a certain class on a
certain day then you might want to show up earlier. In the past some people
have been known to sleep in the Flagroom, but that is an extreme measure.
This is handled on a case by case basis.
We try to be flexible, but since most of the classes are full it is sometimes
difficult to fit an extra couple into the room. Talk to your teachers about it.
In most cases they can find out whether or not it would be ok for you to do it.
If not, the couple that teaches is always at lessons 30 minutes beforehand and
stays 30 minutes after to help and can teach you what you missed then.
We hope you never have a problem with
lessons, but if you do please talk to your teachers first. If you don't feel
comfortable enough to do that then there are at least four other Wranglers at
lessons who you can talk to.
Yes. You and your partner tryout together, and couples are chosen for the team, not individuals.
