Country & Western 1

Our Country & Western 1 class is centered on learning the fundamentals of floor dancing and basic transitions.  This class with cover the basic footwork for two-step, polka, and waltz, as well as both clockwise and counter-clockwise turns. These styles of dance are the most frequently seen and used around the area, making them essential to learn. The class will also touch on how to perform commonly used  transitions that serve as the groundwork for more complex moves which will be taught in our following Country & Western 2 class.

Country & Western 2

Country & Western 2 builds off of the footwork and transitions taught in Country & Western 1, making it ideal for you to attend them sequentially. Country & Western 2 offers a compilation of advanced transitions to enhance your dancing and refine moves previously learned in Country & Western 1. This class focuses on putting transitions to counts and emphasizes dancing sequential moves to music. Country & Western 2 is a great class for those looking to learn some of the eye-catching moves you see the Wranglers perform in our routines.

Jitterbug 1

Jitterbug 1 is all about learning how to flip, lift, and twirl your partner.  Our Jitterbug 1 class provides a handful of transitions throughout the session, but is centered on learning some of our jitterbug moves. Moves in both Jitterbug 1 and Jitterbug 2 a taught with an emphasis on safety. Jitterbug 1 will focus on moves that are lower to the ground and while they are still thrilling, they are typically less intense than moves taught in Jitterbug 2. This class serves as a great introduction to learning how to lift and flip your partner properly.

Jitterbug 2

Our Jitterbug 2 class is built off of the basics of safety offered in Jitterbug 1.  Jitterbug 2 puts a heavier emphasis on learning jitterbug moves than transitions. The moves taught in Jitterbug 2 are typically higher off the ground, but are still taught with the same foundation of safety as in Jitterbug 1. While Jitterbug 1 is not a prerequisite for Jitterbug 2, it is highly recommended to take the “1” class before the “2” class as many Jitterbug 2 moves build off of Jitterbug 1 moves. Jitterbug 2 is the class to take if you are ready to learn some of our advanced “High Flyin’, Death Defyin’, Internationally Famous Aggie-style Jitterbug” moves!

General Expectations:

  • Wear closed toe shoes (boots are optional)
  • Wear appropriate clothing – something comfortable that you can move freely in ( jitterbug classes – no low-cut tops, skirts, etc.)
  • Arrive up to 30 minutes early to sign in, warm up, and ask for any assistance or clarification from previous weeks’ material

First Day of Class:

  • Arrive at least 20 minutes before the lesson start time to sign in
  • Fill out a liability waiver online.
  • Bring your insurance information

Note: A liability waiver must be completed for each session of classes that you sign up for.  To assist in starting on time, please have both you and your partner fill out this form online prior to the first lesson.

  • 1 class costs $60 and covers all four weeks of instruction for 1 couple.

  • Country & Western 1 (Thursday and Sunday classes), Jitterbug 1 (Thursdays), and Jitterbug 2 (Sundays) will be held at the Bootstack (8827 Gauge Dr, College Station, TX 77845). Look at the map below!
  • Country & Western 2 (Sunday) and Jitterbug 1 (Sundays) will be held at Expressions Dance Studio Annex (12909 Wellborn Rd, College Station, TX 77845)

Advanced Lessons

This lesson is highly encouraged for all tryout couples, but is open to all members of the public! Come out for an evening of learning some of our more advanced transitions and Aggie-style Jitterbug! Moves taught include Wagon Wheels, New Move, Rainbow Flip, Pommel Horse, and more!

2020 advanced lessons will be held on February 28 from 8 PM to 10 PM.
